According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, on May 3rd, 2022, at approximately 12:15 P.M., Patrol Deputies were dispatched to VVS High School, which is located at, 5275 State Route 31, in the Town of Verona, for a report of a dispute in progress.

At the completion of the Deputies investigation into the incident, Riley Woodcock (18YO), of Vernon, NY, was taken into custody for the charges of; Obstruction of a governmental administration 2nd (a class A misdemeanor), and Disorderly conduct (a violation).

Due to the actions of Woodcock, the school was placed into a "Hold In Place" which was lifted shortly thereafter once Deputies arrived on scene and the situation was deemed under control. Woodcock was taken into custody, transported to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Building for processing under the listed charges, and later released with an appearance ticket returnable to Verona Town Court at a later date.
