According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On July 6, 2024, at about 3:15 PM, deputies responded to the intersection of Teelin Rd and Herder Rd in the Town of Vienna for a reported two vehicle personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Kristen M. Pelton (36), of Blossvale, was operating a 2011 Toyota west on Teelin Rd in the Town of Vienna. Due to failure to yield to the right of way at the stop sign at Herder Rd, Pelton entered the intersection and struck a 2013 Harley Davison motorcycle being operated by Mark A. Pickard (60), of Canastota.

The impact caused Pickard to become airborne and strike his head on the windshield of the vehicle. Pickard was transported to SUNY Upstate for evaluation. Pickard’s passenger, Penny A. Pickard (59), complained of leg pain and was transported to Oneida Hospital for evaluation. Pelton complained of chest pain and was transported to Rome Hospital for evaluation.

Pelton was issued a citation for “failure to yield to right of way at a stop sign” returnable to Vienna Town Court at a later date.
