According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 08/15/24 at about 1:48 PM, A 17 year old Utica man was traveling eastbound on Route 5 in the Town of Westmoreland when he struck the rear of a vehicle stopped on Route 5 waiting to turn onto Route 233. The operator of the second vehicle was not injured in the incident. The 17 year old’s vehicle after striking the first vehicle crossed over the center line and struck a second vehicle heading West on route 5. The operator of the second Vehicle, did not complain of any injuries but the passenger in the second vehicle was transported to Wynn Hospital for non life threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Kirkland Police Department, Westmoreland Fire Department, and COCVAC ambulance.
