According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol and Herkimer Police Chief Michael Jory, a several month long joint investigation between the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit and the Herkimer Police Department has resulted in 3 people facing drug charges related to the distribution of cocaine and crack cocaine within Oneida County and the Village of Herkimer.

On March 28, 2018, Narcotics Investigators executed a search warrant at 1007 Belle Ave. in the City of Utica. Investigators seized cocaine, crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and U.S. currency from the residence. Christopher Dixon, 34, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, a class B Felony. Dixon was arraigned in Utica City Court and remanded to Oneida County Jail on no bail.

On April 3, 2018, the Herkimer and Mohawk Police Department Special Response Team along with the Ilion Police Department Special Response Team executed a search warrant at 720 W. Walnut St. in the Village of Herkimer. Investigators recovered crack cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and U.S. currency from within the residence. Michael Dixon, 33 and Nicole Levett, 35 were both charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, a class B Felony as well as four counts of endangering the welfare of a child after Investigators discovered 4 children living in the residence that the drugs were being distributed from. Dixon and Levett were both arraigned in the Town of Herkimer Court and remanded to Herkimer County Jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.

During the course of the investigation, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office and the Herkimer Police Department were assisted throughout the investigation by the Rome Police Department Special Investigations Unit and K-9 Unit, the Utica Police Department Metro Unit and TAC Unit, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, the Drug Enforcement Administration Syracuse Resident Office Task Force, the Herkimer Fire Department, the Little Falls Fire Department and MOVAC. Herkimer and Oneida County Child Protective Services are also assisting with the investigation involving the children.
