Trenton Man Arrested In Child Pornography Case

According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Michael Purdy, Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center(CAC), a Trenton man was arrested following an investigation into the possession of child pornography.

Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Investigator C.J. Paravati, who is assigned to the CAC and who also is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, conducted an investigation into a complaint assigned to him through the task force.

During the investigation, a search warrant was obtained.

On the morning of October 24th, 2018, investigators of the Oneida County CAC and the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit (CCU) executed the search warrant at a residence on Whittaker Road in the Town of Trenton. As a result of the execution of the search warrant, Inv. Paravati arrested 28 year old John Angwin Jr, of the Whittaker Road address, for one count of Possession of a Sexual Performance of a Child, a Class E Felony.

Angwin was transported to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and is currently pending arraignment at Centralized Arraignment Court at the Oneida County Correctional Facility.

Inv. Paravati was assisted in this investigation by the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Patrol K-9 Unit, Investigators with the CAC and member of the New York State Police CCU.

The investigation will be turned over to the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office for further review and possible further charges.
